Comsewogue High School students paid tribute Saturday to their beloved, late former superintendent through community work.
Dr. Joseph Rella was remembered for his selfless acts and positive influence. He died in 2020.
When he retired in 2018, the district started "Joe's Days of Service" – a community service initiative where students and the Comsewogue community pledges to give back.
Students work on a service-learning project all year long to honor him by collecting food donations, visiting senior facilities and cleaning up beaches.
Many of the projects were displayed throughout the school for parents to see.
