Grid Alternatives is a nonprofit that brings solar power to low-income communities. Volunteers not only learn how to install solar panels, they are also able to gain skills that can be used for future employment. Grid will be holding its first installation of solar panels in the Bronx on Oct. 20 and 21.
Getting Involved Virginia Avenue Efforts, or GIVE, is another group looking for volunteers. The group works on cleaning up and restoring parks in the borough.
The Bronx Volunteer Coalition encourages potential volunteers to contact them for other opportunities to get involved.
