Police cars, firetrucks and community members drove by Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Center Tuesday to show the people on the front lines how appreciated they are.
Mercy was one of the first hospitals to experience the fear of COVID-19, as one of its employees was the first confirmed case on Long Island.
Right now, the hospital is taking care of 170 coronavirus patients.
The parade was similar to the loud and energizing scene at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore Tuesday morning. Community members held a rally to support everyone who is working to keep Long Islanders safe.
"We're here for you and it's nice to know they're here for us, too," said Barbara Gibbons, who works at Mercy Medical Center.
