A meeting was held this evening at Mineola High School on the Common Core curriculum.

Parents and students who were unable to get tickets to the event gathered outside the high school to have their voices heard.

Inside, more than 800 parents, students and teachers listened to state Education Commissioner John King explain what he says are the benefits of the controversial curriculum.

Many Long Islanders say the new curriculum is too much change too fast.
