Malverne High School is going remote Friday because of cold conditions.
The school district says they found a pipe break Thursday and needed to temporarily shut down part of the building's heating system.
Students say they were doing whatever they could to stay warm.
"It's like really cold," said senior Sekani Spence. "When I was in my math class, I had to use my jacket as a cover almost because it was freezing cold in there."
Some parents told News 12 off camera that they wanted to bring their children back home after lunch.
In a statement to News 12, the superintendent said, "Currently, most classrooms maintain adequate warmth, and those that require additional heating have been relocated to warmer spaces."
The district says it made the decision to go remote because temperatures are expected to be below 65 degrees in the building.
