WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
An extreme cold warning will be in effect from Saturday 7 a.m. to Sunday at 1 p.m. for Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Putnam, Rockland, Orange and Westchester counties. Temperatures will feel -15 to -35.
A wind advisory will be in effect from Saturday 9 a.m. to Sunday midnight for Orange, Rockland, Putnam and Westchester counties. Gusts of 40 to 50 mph are possible.
A quick moving clipper drops about an inch or so of snow for most places in the Hudson Valley but there could be a few that get overnight snow showers, bringing 1 to 3 inches.
There will be no need for the shovels as the wind will be blowing the snow around all weekend.
Watch for slick conditions on any untreated surfaces.
Use caution if you intend to be outside for any amount of time. Exposed skin can develop frostbite in this extreme cold within mere minutes.
