A Nassau County restaurant is now accepting the digital currency Bitcoin.

At Churrasqueira Bairrada in Mineola, Bitcoins are now being accepted as payment along with cash and credit cards. The restaurant's manager, Hector Fonseca, says the currency is simple for diners to use and its value is always increasing.

Big businesses like Overstock.com and Virgin Galactic are now excepting Bitcoins, which is one reason why Fonseca says his restaurant will accept them, too.

The digital currency is not controlled by any government or central bank and is used via a smartphone app or computer.

Some financial experts say Bitcoin can be risky because it is a currency that cannot be physically held and has no government backing.
