The man whose arrest led to the downfall of former Suffolk Police Chief James Burke has been arrested in an assault on an 89-year-old woman.
Suffolk DA Ray Tierney announced the indictment of 37-year-old Christopher Loeb, of Smithtown. Loeb is accused of pushing an 89-year-old woman to the ground and throwing a metal plant stand at her. The assault left her with a fractured femur.
Loeb was arraigned on two counts of second-degree assault and one count of third-degree criminal mischief. He was ordered held on $75,000 cash, $150,000 bond, or $750,000 partially secured bond.
Loeb is due back in court Feb. 15.
As News 12 has reported, Burke was convicted in federal court of beating up Loeb in 2012 and trying to cover it up.
