The nonprofit organization Angels of Long Island aims to help make the holidays brighter for Long Islanders this season.
The group, run by Debbie Loesch, set up a pop up shop called "Christmas Miracle 2021" on East Main Street in East Patchogue Sunday. They say the items that filled the tent were donations from local businesses and toy drives, enough to provide free gifts for over 150 families.
"Everything is free here, so there's bikes and scooters - Cozy Coupes and wooden kitchens - really beautiful toys to go underneath a tree," says Loesch.
One woman shared she had volunteered for the organization for six years, but this year is turning to them for help.
"It is a relief that you can't get anywhere else. Being a part of a community and being able to give and take when you need - it's an irreplaceable feeling."
The Angels of Long Island will also be providing food so the families can have a home-cooked Christmas dinner.
"What's really important on the holidays is breaking bread and sit down with a beautiful dinner and spending quality time with your family," said one shopper.
