At the corner of Forest Avenue and 12th Street in Locust Valley, children wait for the bus as day laborers wait for work. Concerned parents say they do not know the men and worry about their children?s safety. An activist for undocumented workers says the town of Oyster Bay should create an official work site where day laborers can gather. He insists that children on the corner are safe and parents are making a big deal out of nothing. In response to the parent?s concerns, the town has made it illegal for contractors to stop at the corner between 6:30 and 10:30 a.m. Police officers will be at the stop starting Monday morning.
