Police say a 4-year-old girl was struck by a school bus in Midwood.
It happened Monday just before 4 p.m. at 1070 East 2nd St.
Police say she was trying to cross the street when she was hit.
EMS took the child to Maimonides in critical condition.
News 12 spoke resident Elena Midebura, who says she was shocked to see the scene.
“We love this neighborhood because it’s always so quiet and peaceful and orderly so it’s definitely really sad," said Midebura.
Another resident who wanted to remain anonymous says he feels there could be more safety improvements on the road.
"We need more speed bumps there's not enough," he said.
The school bus driver remained on scene, according to the NYPD.
News 12 reached out to the organization that appeared to be affiliated with the bus, but hasn't yet heard back.
