Why did the chickens cross the road in Plainview? Apparently to ruffle neighbors' feathers.
Residents say that three weeks ago, eight of the birds nested in a sump on Woodbury Road.
"When they are right under your window at 5 o'clock in the morning, it's a little tough to take," says neighbor Rick Agostino.
News 12 cameras spotted at least six animals weaving in and out of the streets, bushes and people's yards.
Residents say they've called the Town of Oyster Bay and the police, but the birds remain an issue.
But some residents see a sunny side to the problem.
"Maybe we should keep quiet, and we won't have to pay for eggs anymore," says Carol Agostino. "We'll get fresh eggs every morning."
