A chef and the owner of Fatty Beltbuckles in Rocky Point were charged with first-degree rape and engaging in criminal sex acts Wednesday for allegedly raping a restaurant employee. The chef, 25-year-old Michael Kontanis, of Ridge, surrendered to police Tuesday night after the owner of the restaurant, 43-year-old George Leodis, was arrested on the same charges.The victim?s mother says her daughter and another female employee stayed after closing to have a drink with Leodis and Kontanis. It is during that time that the suspects allegedly raped one of the women. The victim?s mother says her daughter is scared for her safety and by the prospect of the men being out of jail.
The men face a maximum sentence of 25 years to life if convicted. Kontanis was released on bail and Leodis is being held on $25,000.
