Ida may have destroyed the Chabad of Bronxville, but the Jewish community won't let it stop them from practicing Yom Kippur Wednesday night.

The congregation says they are so fortunate to be able to host services for the holiest day of the Jewish year in a beautiful space at the Bronxville Women's Center, but it's not normally where they would gather.

The Chabad of Bronxville and nearly everything inside was totally destroyed by 5 feet of flood water during Ida, including precious hand-written Torahs and newly ordered holy books for the holidays.

Rabbi Sruli Deitsch says he is so grateful for the community for coming together to make Yom Kippur possible.

The Bronxville Women's Club cleaned up its flooded space for them, the Chabad of Bronxville recieved a donated a Torah, furniture was restored and they were able to find new prayer books, which were hard to find at the last minute.

And in the last week or so, they've received almost $80,000 in donations.

"This is a representation of many, many acts of many, many people in order to have what we have today. So, when I stand in the synagogue that we have today, you stop and you wonder - how many people did it take to put this together?" says Rabbi Sruli Deitsch, of Chabad of Bronxville.

When News 12 first spoke to Rabbi Deitsch days after Ida, he was confident that God was going to overwhelm them with kindness and on Wednesday, he can say that happened.
