Students in Central Islip are happily spending the summer in the classroom.
Francis O'Neil Elementary School is holding voluntary summer school classes to keep kids engaged and interested in the summer months.
There are about 20 classes altogether, with 15 students in each. The students are taking courses that include English and math, with some fun activities mixed in.
"I have good grades in school, but my mother didn't want me to stay at home and be lazy," explained student Adrian Amaya.
