Residents in Cedarhurst may be getting some relief from the blasting horns of passing Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) trains. State Senator Dean Skelos (R-Rockville Centre) met with residents and LIRR officials Monday to test the new Wayside Horn at the Cedarhurst crossing. LIRR officials say the stationary horn offers a lower volume without compromising safety and the whistle will be aimed at cars instead of homes. Residents say they hope the new horn will bring a sense of peace and quiet to their neighborhood.
