9h agoA man was rescued in Narrow Bay near Mastic Beach after his boat capsized Sunday morning.
The rescue of 34-Year-old Nicholas Shakalis was caught on video.
Shakalis was hunting aboard a kayak when his boat capsized and fell into the water.
A person on land saw Shakalis in need of help and called police around 8:45 a.m.
A Suffolk police helicopter flew over to rescue Shakalis who was not wearing a flotation device.
An officer assisted him back to the shores of Pattersquash Island.
Shakalis was then transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was treated for hypothermia.
