A cat burglar's break-in at a City Island convent has left two sisters feeling vulnerable.
Sisters Bernadette Hannaway and Kristen Wenzel say someone broke into their Minnieford Avenue home/convent Friday night. The sisters say the crook was in their bedrooms as they slept. The thief got away with cell phones, a watch, car keys and even stole soda from the fridge. Wenzel and Hannaway woke to find their back door wide open, screens off windows and a broken basement window. Police have not made any arrests.
Hannaway and Wenzel, who have lived at the home behind a church for 29 years, say they feel violated. The sisters now fear for their safety and say they know of at least two other break-ins on the block.
