A salmonella outbreak linked to papayas from Mexico is now on Long Island.
Suffolk health officials say the state has made them aware of three cases in Suffolk County and eight cases in Nassau County.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the salmonella outbreak has now sickened 109 people in 16 states and is responsible for one death.
According to the FDA, the affected papayas can be traced to one specific farm in Mexico.
