A child care worker has been accused of assaulting a disabled teen.

Officials say 27-year-old Reneisha Goodridge pleaded not guilty at her arraignment Saturday after she was charged with endangering the teen.

Police say the incident happened at SCO Family Services in Sea Cliff last week. They say Goodridge pushed the 17-year-old, then grabbed her arm and dragged her across the floor during an argument.

Police say the victim sustained a bruised eye, swollen lip and scratches on her neck.

Goodridge's attorney says she was trying to restrain the girl.

"The child was acting out and she restrained her. That's what she's trained to do," says Scott Cerbin. "She did nothing wrong. There's no crime here. There's no story here. This is manufactured, there's no story."

A judge issued an order of protection for Goodridge to stay away from the teen.

Goodridge's bail was set at $2,500 cash. She and her mother declined to comment to News 12 after bail was posted.

A spokesperson for SCO told News 12, "We take our responsibility for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children in our care very seriously. This was an isolated incident involving one staff and one young person. SCO immediately suspended Ms. Goodridge and then fired her following an internal review. A report was filed with the NYS Justice Center and the police were called."
