Police were on the scene Monday of a motor vehicle accident that ended with a car flipped on its side and landed in 3 feet of water.
Police say the crash occurred at North Marginal Road and Jericho Turnpike. They say a 2020 Ford veered off the road and landed into a 75-foot sump.
The 52-year-old male driver was trapped inside while water was entering the car. The Nassau County Emergency Service Unit was able to rescue the driver.
The accident shut down the LIE Exit 40 westbound service road, but that has since reopened.
