It was a close call for dozens of children at a day care facility at Hofstra University when a car jumped the curb and slammed into the side of a classroom.
Fire officials say two concrete planters protected the children from an out-of-control Nissan Rogue that careened off Hempstead Turnpike Tuesday afternoon.
The vehicle slammed through an iron fence and punctured a hole in the wall of the day care facility that was filled with 30 children at the time.
Fire officials say the driver and four children suffered minor injuries. They're expected to be OK.
Police have not released information about the driver, or what caused her to crash her car into the building.
