? Nassau County police say an elderly man apparently lost control of his car while parallel parking and backed through the front of a children?s tutoring business in New Hyde Park Thursday.
FastTracKids, located at 1615 Hillside Ave., was closed at the time of the crash and no children were inside. Authorities say the owner of the business was inside sitting at a computer and became pinned up against the wall by the car. Rescuers had to go in through the back door to extricate him.
Nassau Detective Sgt. Tony Repalone says the 79-year-old driver of the car accelerated with such force while trying to park that he crashed through the building.
Police say the business owner complained of severe leg pain and was taken to Winthrop University Hospital. The driver of the car appeared to be fine following the crash, but was taken to Winthrop for evaluation.
