A Calverton man pleaded guilty to attempted murder and other charges for opening fire on a crowd at a candlelight vigil.

Steven Reid, 27, admitted to shooting two men at the Bellport vigil in July 2023. He then opened fire on others, including a woman and a 9-year-old boy.

Reid fled the state and was eventually arrested in North Carolina.

He also assaulted a corrections officer inside the Suffolk County Jail in December.

Reid is expected to be sentenced in May to 14 years in prison.
