A plan to bring a medical marijuana dispensary to Lake Success is not sitting well with some residents.
The marijuana dispensary will be located at 2001 Marcus Ave. but residents are concerned because they say it is too close to a community ballpark.
Bloomfields Industries, the medical marijuana company, told News 12 that the location for the dispensary makes sense and has been approved by the New York State Health Department.
"We've identified a location near major medical centers so that the patients who are suffering and most need this service will have simple and safe access. We are looking forward to earning a place as a good neighbor," says Chief Operating Officer Colette Bellefleuer.
Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth released a statement saying that it's not yet a done deal. She released a statement that said in part, "Our zoning laws do not allow this use at 2001 Marcus Ave., and we are in communication with the company running the dispensary and the state Department of Health to let them know that they can't open at this location under our zoning. I urge the company that will provide patients with medical marijuana to identify a new location that is in compliance with zoning laws."
