Operation Safe Cab is an NYPD program that intends to keep cabbies safe by allowing random inspections of the people and the contents inside of the cabs.
The NYPD created stickers in 1994 that were stamped on some cabs in an effort to stop robberies and to help ease the minds of the drivers. Now with the recent Livery cab driver killings, the NYPD and Limousine Commission are pushing to get cabs stamped for safety.
However, not every driver is happy about the safety changes. At Eastern Car Service, some say with safety lights and cameras already installed in the vehicles, they?ll take their chances without the sticker.
