A Bronx-born scholarship that has helped high school students since 1989 is now lending aid to college freshmen.
The Annenberg Foundation has stepped in to give a grant to the Juanita James Foundation, allowing it to broaden the scope of eligible students. Its goal is to help high school seniors and freshmen currently enrolled in college.
The $1,000 scholarship is given to students who live in public housing and show academic excellence.
The deadline to apply for the scholarship is Feb. 15.
