Upstate police are investigating a deadly crash that took place Sunday as two busloads of Special Olympics athletes were headed back to Long Island.
The collision occurred after one bus developed engine trouble. Both buses pulled over on the shoulder of the Thruway in Tuxedo. One of the bus drivers was trying to fix the problem when a box truck rammed the bus behind him, crushing the man in between the buses. State Police say 42-year-old Ephraim Williams, of the Bronx, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident tied up traffic on the Thruway for hours. So far, no charges have been filed.
