(11/19/07) GARDEN CITY PARK (AP) - Burglars backed their car into the front window of a RadioShack store so they could get inside and steal nearly $4,000 in electronics.
Nassau County police say officers responding to the alarm at 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the store on Jericho Turnpike found the storefront window shattered. Lieutenant Kevin Smith says "The car mounted the curb and broke the windows and an unknown number of subjects took merchandise. Five flat-screen televisions and a laptop computer valued at about $3,775 were taken. Police believe more than one person was involved to carry out the bulky equipment. Smith said police were interviewing a potential witness who did not speak English, and detectives were reviewing a video. Police asked that anyone with information contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
