On a day typically associated with bad luck or slasher movies, two brothers from West Babylon both became fathers.
The firstborn babies of Clifton and Anthony Melhado came into the world this past Friday, Nov. 13, at the same hospital.
Baby Antonino was born three weeks early. His mother, Maria, had just arrived at Good Samaritan Hospital to have an emergency cesarean section on Friday, when she received word that her brother-in-law Anthony, and his wife Vanessa were also going to the hospital to have their baby girl, Quinn.
Quinn was born at 2:59 p.m. Her cousin would arrive about eight hours later. Both families shared the same hospital room.
In addition to having children with the same birthday, the brothers are also both in the military. Anthony Melhado has served with the Army National Guard for the past five years. Clifton Melhado will leave for Oklahoma on Tuesday to begin basic training with the National Guard.
The Melhados say that Friday the 13th birthdays run in both families, as several members share that date.
