Brother of hit-and-run victim renews call for justice

The brother of a bicyclist killed in a hit-and-run crash on Christmas night is begging the public to come forward with information about the accident. Hector Rapalo was riding his bicycle on Route 111

The brother of a bicyclist killed in a hit-and-run crash on Christmas night is begging the public to come forward with information about the accident.
Hector Rapalo was riding his bicycle on Route 111 near Chestnut Street in Central Islip when police say a car hit him from behind and kept going. Rapalo was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries, police say he never regained consciousness and died there.
Suffolk County police say they?ve received about 10 tips in the days after the crash, but none have panned out. They say any bit of information helps. Detective Sgt. William Rand says officers are looking for a small dark car that may be a Honda, with low wheels and possible damage to the front end.
Rapalo?s brother Omar says he had just spent Christmas with Hector. Hector has a wife and three children in Honduras and worked at a restaurant in Miller Place.
