The brother of actor Chadwick Boseman took part in a performance to raise awareness for cancer.
Kevin Boseman took part in a grand dance production called Dance Against Cancer at the Lincoln Center Monday.
"This wasn't necessarily about entertaining, although I know the audience was entertained, this was about us donating our time, our name to raising awareness for cancer," said Kevin Boseman.
Last year Chadwick Boseman lost his battle with colon cancer at the age of 43. Shortly after, Kevin Boseman revealed he was in remission after two years.
According to a study from Jama Oncology, nearly 10 million people either missed or skipped cancer screenings last year. Kevin Boseman says it's important to attend medical checkups because early detection can save lives.
"It's also important that if you are privileged to regularly attend a doctor, a dentist, an eye doctor, a dermatologist, because all of those doctors can detect cancer," he said.
The event is now in its 11th year and since then has raised $2 million for cancer research.
