Brooklyn’s Indulge Kitchen Supply takes a stab at bringing old knives back to life

A Brooklyn business is helping restaurants and home cooks get back up on the chopping block.
Indulge Kitchen Supply Store, located at 469 Myrtle Ave., offers knife sharpening services to make sure knives are good as new.
"We fix them, we sharpen them. If there's anything broken, we can reshape it. We can make it a whole new knife," said owner Luis Tapia.
Tapia said in order for the knife to pass, it has to cut through a Post-it note. If it doesn't cut through it, he restarts the entire process.
He added that many of his customers are people who have had silverware passed down to them from generations.
"I'll never get rid of them. They're sentimental," said Auggie Russo, a customer who brought his culinary school knives to Indulge.
"I had a gentleman that brought in his uncle's knives, and they were in [wars]," Tapia said. "One of them was in the Korean War, and the other was in the Vietnam War. They were a little rusted out. We fix them. We clean them. We resharpened them."
Customers can walk into the store anytime during its open hours.
