A decade-old deal between Nassau County and the state could mean big payoffs for the county when a casino in Queens starts offering live table games Tuesday.
Resorts World New York City in Jamaica is one of three casinos that received full operating licenses from the New York State Gaming Commission.
Hard Rock Casino near Citi Field and Bally's Bronx are slated to open in 2030.
In a 2016 deal facilitated by state lawmakers, the Nassau OTB transferred its right to install up to 1,000 video slot machines in a county-based facility to Genting, which owns Resorts World. In exchange, Genting installed the machines at Resorts World and pays Nassau tens of millions every year.
The question is how much will Nassau stand to benefit from the casino 10 miles from its western border.
Resorts World New York City's expanded facility will offer more than 240 live table games, including blackjack, craps, baccarat and roulette, as well as maintaining over 2,500 slot machines.
"Live table games will be open and operating right here in Queens for the first time in the history of New York City," Genting Americas East President Robert DeSalvio said in a statement. "We are ready to welcome New Yorkers to this exciting new experience."
Resorts World created 1,250 new jobs, including 950 table-game dealers. The facility now employs 2,200 and is slated to grow to more than 2,700 workers by summer.
Genting Chairman KT Lim and hip-hop legend and Resorts World partner NAS will be among those to help cut the ribbon at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Jake's 58 Casino Hotel in Islandia has not returned multiple calls for comment on the potential business impact on the casino in Suffolk County.
