Brooklyn jail housing deposed Venezuelan President Maduro notorious for troubled, famous inmates

The Brooklyn jail holding Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro is notorious for housing troubled inmates - as well as some famous ones.
The Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), located in Sunset Park, is the routine landing spot for people awaiting trial in federal courts in Manhattan and Brooklyn. It holds alleged gangsters and drug traffickers alongside some people accused of white-collar crimes.
The federal facility opened in the early 1990s and currently houses about 1,300 inmates.
Maduro and his wife spent their fourth day inside on Tuesday, as they await their next court appearance in March.
Maduro is just one of many high-profile current and former MDC inmates, including accused United Healthcare CEO killer Luigi Mangione, media mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, singer R. Kelly, Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell, former Honduras President Jaun Orlando Hernandez and Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.
News 12 has previously reported on the conditions inside of MDC, which inmates and their families have voiced concerns about, calling them "inhumane."
News 12 reached out again to the Bureau of Prisons for comment about the conditions inside, but as of Tuesday night it has not responded.
