A proposal to build a new power plant in Suffolk has cleared one more hurdle.
Town lawmakers have voted to at least look at a final environment impact study for the project.
As News 12 has reported, the new Caithness II plant would be built right next to the LIPA's Caithness plant in Yaphank.
"The new plant would be the most efficient, cleanest, the most-water conserving plant to serve Long Island," said Caithness LI president Ross Ain.
Caithness says it will be picking up a $1 billion tab for the project and that it is responsible for any cost overruns, not the ratepayers.
