Brookhaven Animal Shelter waiving adoption fees through December
Families thinking of adding a family pet this coming Christmas might want to consider adopting a shelter dog.
The Brookhaven Animal Shelter let News 12 Long Island's Jackie Lukas come in to meet some of the special animals waiting for their forever home.
"We have about 140 dogs here right now that need homes for the holidays ... some that have been here for a year-plus," says the shelter's Ashley Boyd. "So, we're hoping those guys can get placed and have a home for the holidays."
Adoption fees at Brookhaven are being waived through Dec. 31. Spaying, neutering, vaccines and microchipping are also free for a limited time.
The Brookhaven shelter will be open on Sundays, when it's typically closed, for the rest of the month as part of the promotion. It will close on Wednesdays instead.
