Tenants in one Bronx building have had enough of what they claim to be years of neglect.
Cracks in the ceiling, peeling paint, a lack of heat and mold are just some of the conditions residents at 1058 Southern Blvd. complain about.
The tenants say they've been in and out of housing court trying to get their landlord, Miriam Shasho, to make necessary repairs.
The building is now in foreclosure, and neighbors say they received a letter in October from the Bluestone Group, a private equity company, informing them that it had bought the building's mortgage. Tenants are now hoping to get the attention of the Bluestone Group to pressure Shasho to fix their apartments.
Several residents are even requesting to meet with Bluestone about what the future holds for their homes.
The Director of Acquisitions for Bluestone Group Barry Altmark said, "It's the responsibility of the current owner to manage the building."
News 12 also reached out to the landlord on the issue, but has not yet heard back.
