President Donald Trump ordered the United States to drop 30,000-pound bombs on three Iranian nuclear sites early Sunday morning, raising urgent questions about what remains of Iran's nuclear program and how its military might respond.
News 12 spoke with Bronx residents of Middle Eastern descent, many of whom did not want to comment. Others had mixed reactions about Trump’s decision.
“If [Trump] goes further, it might mean it will get us to a big catastrophe,” said Mojalli Al-Abdi, of Allerton.
“What happened is not good for nobody,” said Yousef Elian, of Van Nest. “It doesn’t bring any peace. Even if the situation is not that good now, imagine what will happen if they attack each other.”
Mayor Eric Adams ordered the NYPD to increase its presence "around religious, cultural, and diplomatic sites.”
Police said they will continue to monitor for any potential impacts to the city.
The Associated Press reported that Iran said the U.S. 'decided to destroy diplomacy' and will decide “timing, nature and scale” of its response.
