Jerome Thomas is set to face a judge Tuesday after being accused of killing 1-year-old Imani Mitchell. Police say he punched her several times in the head. She was in a coma for a week before she died.

Police confirmed the baby was left home alone with Thomas who was the boyfriend of the mother. He was arrested the day after the baby was found unconscious.

When the attack first happened, News 12 spoke with neighbors who said they would always hear a man and a woman fighting.

The district attorneys' office says Thomas is facing multiple charges, including manslaughter, murder, and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

If convicted Thomas could serve 15 years to life.
