A Bronx native and basketball star is making the jump to professional football.
Chris Manhertz was a standout basketball star at Cardinal Spellman High School and then again at Canisius College, but he's trading the court for the field with the Buffalo Bills.
The NFL team expressed interest in Manhertz back in April, despite his never playing football. That led to the start of a rigorous training program and the signing of a futures contract on Dec. 30.
The contract gets Manhertz into training camp, but it's up to him to make it through that and earn a spot on the Bills' roster.
