Community leaders, entertainers, business owners and residents gathered Saturday night in Throgs Neck for the 54th annual Bronx Ball. It's one of the signature events of Bronx Week that celebrates the borough’s culture, resilience and influence.

The event at Bally’s Golf Links at Ferry Point honored new inductees to the Bronx Walk of Fame and brought together local organizations, businesses and community members under this year’s Bronx Week theme: “The Bronx Leads.”

“This is really the Grammys of the Bronx,” said Julius Drake, of the Bronx Tourism Council, referring to the Bronx Ball and Bronx Walk of Fame celebrations.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark said the event reflects the pride many residents feel in the borough.

“As Bronx district attorney, I’m always happy to celebrate Bronx Week,” Clark said. “It just shows the pride we have in our county and we have a chance to dress up and celebrate.”

The celebration represented more than a single night of festivities for many attendees.

“Personally, having been born and raised in the Bronx and having a business here, we lead ourselves to opportunities that are there and we lead with our talent so the world can see it as well,” said Daniel Garcia, a Bronx business owner from the South Bronx.

New York City personality and entrepreneur Chrissy Monroe also praised the borough’s cultural impact.

“The Bronx leads the world with culture, fashion, music and everything everyone wants to be,” Monroe said. “The Bronx is lit.”

The celebration carried additional significance this year after Bronx Week was previously canceled due to financial concerns before it was reinstated following public outcry and support from community members.

Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson said the week-long celebration highlights the spirit of the borough and the people who live there.

“It’s about celebrating the people, amplifying our voices and it really is about highlighting the Bronx in a real way,” Gibson said. “Let every setback make sure you stay ready for your future because if you get ready you stay ready, and that is the real story of the Bronx.”

Bronx Week, which was in its 54th year, includes community events, cultural celebrations, wellness activities and live entertainment across the borough.

The festivities conclude Sunday with the Bronx Week Unity & Culture Parade, Food & Arts Festival and Bronx Week Concert along Mosholu Parkway.
