People who use the Long Island Rail Road faced major delays this weekend.
There was no train service between Hicksville and Mineola because of the demolition of the deteriorating Ellison Avenue Bridge in Westbury.
Buses were provided on the main line between the Hicksville and Mineola stations. There were also buses for people at the Carle Place and Westbury stations.
An estimated 40,000 customers were expected to be affected by the schedule changes.
LIRR officials suggested that riders plan on adding an additional 60 minutes to their commute time.
The work lasted through Sunday night.
