Police say an overnight house fire in Brentwood was intentionally set by the homeowner's wife.
Police say 20-year-old Maria Ramirez Martinez set fire to the home on Claywood Drive that she shares with her husband and 10-month-old child.
Authorities say Martinez set fire to a suitcase full of her husband's clothing around 12:30 a.m. Her husband, Francisco Villator, says he came home to find that the fire had spread to the side of the house. He told News 12 Long Island that she didn't mean to burn the home.
He said she called him on the phone earlier in the evening and accused him of cheating on her, which he denied.
Martinez was arraigned on arson charges Saturday afternoon. Villator bailed her out of jail.
No one was injured in the fire.
