Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Sam Augeri says it will be mostly cloudy Thursday with the possibility of scattered storm chances.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
WEATHER TO WATCH: An area of low pressure passes just south of Long Island Thursday afternoon and evening to bring showers and storms with locally heavy rain and gusty winds. With the current storm path there could be some rotation in storms around Suffolk County, maybe a water spout around the East End. We'll have to watch the track and any changes closely Thursday morning. First half of the day is dry with rain between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m.
RIP CURRENTS: Moderate to high risk Thursday
THE WEEKEND: Looks nice and mostly dry. Chance for a few showers to pass by overnight Saturday into early Sunday morning.
OVERNIGHT: Partly cloudy and mild with lows near 68. Less wind. West winds 5 to 10 mph.
THURSDAY: Morning sun followed by a good chance for showers and storms after 2pm into the evening. Some showers could bring heavy rain and gusty winds. Highs near 81. South winds 5 to 15 mph. Sunset: 7:57
THURSDAY NIGHT: Showers and storms end early with clearing skies. Lows near 66. Breezy at times with south winds 10 to 15 mph.
FRIDAY: Sunny and beautiful with highs near 84. Lows near 66.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny and nice. Highs near 84. Chance for a few showers and storms overnight. Lows near 71.
SUNDAY: Warm with sun and clouds. Highs near 85. Lows near 68.
