Police confirm the body of a male in his late teens was found washed up in a Massapequa canal Monday afternoon.

Massapequa resident Nick Leone says he noticed the body in the canal behind his Merrick Road home around 1:30 p.m. Police recovered the body and sent it to the medical examiner?s office to determine the identity and cause of death.

Neighbors say they fear the body may be that of 17-year-old Kieran McCaffrey, a Massapequa resident missing since Super Bowl Sunday and reportedly last seen near a canal.
