(AP) - A body found floating in a Long Islandcanal has been identified as a 17-year-old reported missing a monthago by his family.

Kieran McCaffrey's body was removed from a canal in Massapequaon Monday by Nassau County police. Authorities identified the bodyon Tuesday, saying they're awaiting autopsy results for a cause ofdeath.

McCaffrey, a senior at Massapequa High School, was last seenearly February 3 near his home. When McCaffrey didn't come home,his family filed a report with police.

The flag in front of Massapequa High School was flown athalf-staff in McCaffrey's memory. The 17-year-old is the secondhigh school senior to die this year. In January, Michael Gruber, a17-year-old senior, died of meningitis.
