Police are investigating after a body was found in a dumpster in Valley Stream Sunday night.

Cops say the discovery was made around 7 p.m. behind a Laundromat at Cochran and Dubois avenues. According to police, someone walking past the dumpster noticed the body.

Police are remaining tight-lipped about details of the case, only saying the body is that of a woman between 40 and 45 years old. Many in the area, however, suspect the woman killed was their neighbor.

"When we saw the scene down the street we just put two and two together,? Stephen Maloney, of Valley Stream says. Maloney lives less than one-half mile away from the crime scene and says his neighbor has been missing since Friday. He describes her as a hardworking, loving mother of four and says she fits the cops? description.

Another neighbor told News 12 Long Island the woman?s children say their mother just left Friday and never came back home. Police are continuing to investigate.
