A large crowd of upset boaters packed the Islip Town Board public meeting Tuesday to speak out against new fees for boaters at the Fire Island Atlantique Marina.
The main issue angering boaters is the increase in the price of a boat slip from $396 a week to $452 a week.
Community members are also mad about the potential move to reserve nine slips for larger vessels to stay in the marina year-round.
"Already on Craigslist is somebody advertising 'rent my boat for a week' at Atlantique for $4,000. This is what you're turning it into. Shame on you for voting for this," said Richard Hill.
A Town Board member told News 12 Long Island after the meeting that they would never do anything to discriminate against the residents of the town.
