Protesters and supporters of the Smithtown Fire Department gathered outside the building Saturday afternoon.
One group was in support of the department following their decision to keep their Blue Lives Matter flag. Another group came out against the decision.
Smithtown fire officials put back up a Thin Blue Line flag on one of its trucks. The department originally took it down after a complaint.
